The Creative scheme offers pupils in Y5 the opportunity to undertake creative processes in specialist studios in ceramics, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, painting, design technology, mixed media as well as gallery visits and ‘meet the artist’ Q&A’s. The aim is to introduce pupils to some core creative processes, concepts and experimental investigations.
The sessions are very hands-on (printmaking on the press and throwing clay on the potter’s wheel are a favourite!) and are taught by art and DT teachers from Dulwich College, with older students from the College on hand to act as mentors and extra helpers. It is hoped that pupils will also have the chance to make friends with children from other schools and to develop their confidence before they start to prepare for secondary transfer in Year 6.
